Where does MRF money go?
In 2008, approximately 85% of funds went to research, education and advocacy in. The remainder was spent on other programmatic activities such as publications and fundraising. Grants are awarded through a scientific peer-review system paneled by leading clinical and basic melanoma researchers. The MRF is not affiliated with any specific hospital or research institution and thus award grants to applicants that have the best combination of scientific merit, appropriately skilled researchers, the greatest likelihood for success and the highest benefit for the melanoma patient community.
